Procreate Color Picker Not Showing or Working Properly
If the color picker in Procreate is not showing or working as expected, there are a few things to check and try.
First, ensure that you haven’t accidentally hidden the color panel.
To restore it, go to the top of the screen, and tap the color circle to open the color picker.
If the color picker appears but doesn’t respond when you select a color, it could be due to a software glitch or settings issue.
Try restarting the app to refresh its cache and restore functionality.
If this doesn’t solve the issue, check your device’s touch screen settings.
Procreate relies on touch gestures, and if the touch settings are misconfigured, it might affect the color picker’s functionality.
Make sure that Procreate is up-to-date as well.
Sometimes color picker issues are fixed with updates that address bug fixes.
Another common cause is the color profile settings in Procreate.
Navigate to Preferences > Color Profile
and ensure that the settings are correct.
Incorrect color profiles may cause the color picker to behave strangely or display inaccurate colors.
Additionally, check if the iPad’s display settings are affecting the colors.
Adjust the display settings and turn off any color correction features like True Tone or Night Shift, as they can interfere with Procreate’s color management.
If the problem persists, reset Procreate’s settings to default by going to Settings > Reset
.
Lastly, if the problem is specific to a certain file, try creating a new canvas to see if the color picker works there.
If the issue is resolved in the new canvas, the original file might have some corruption that prevents the color picker from working.
In this case, try exporting the artwork and importing it into a new Procreate file.
