MacOS -50: Fixing File Transfer Issues in macOS
The -50
error in macOS typically occurs when trying to copy or move files from one location to another.
It is often caused by file system corruption, permissions issues, or incompatible file formats.
To resolve this error, begin by checking if the file you're transferring is corrupted or has an unsupported file format.
If the file is located on an external drive, check the drive for any issues by opening Disk Utility and running First Aid on the drive.
If the error still occurs, check the file or folder's permissions.
Right-click on the file or folder, select Get Info, and ensure that you have the appropriate permissions for reading and writing the file.
If you're copying files to a network drive, make sure that you have the necessary network permissions and that the connection is stable.
If all else fails, try rebooting your Mac and attempting the file transfer again.
In some cases, resetting the PRAM (Parameter RAM) may help resolve the issue.
To do this, restart your Mac and hold down Command + Option + P + R
during startup.
