How to Fix "Sketch Artboard Alignment Issues"
Aligning artboards in Sketch can sometimes lead to unexpected results, especially when using guides, grids, or snapping features.
The first step is to make sure that you're using Sketch’s built-in alignment tools properly.
Select the artboard or group of elements, and then use the Align
options in the toolbar to align your objects horizontally or vertically.
If you are using guides or snapping to objects, check that they are positioned correctly and that you haven’t accidentally created conflicting guides or grid lines that might cause the misalignment.
You can disable snapping temporarily by holding down the Command
key while dragging objects.
This will help you move elements freely without snapping them to guides or other objects.
Another common cause of alignment issues is the use of incompatible units of measurement.
Sketch allows users to work in both pixels and points, and switching between the two can cause alignment problems, especially when the artboard sizes don’t match.
Make sure that your measurements are consistent and aligned across the document by checking your document settings in Sketch > Preferences
.
If you have any manually set margins or paddings within your artboards, double-check them, as they can throw off alignment when exporting.
Also, pay attention to the Constraints feature, which controls how objects respond to changes in artboard size.
Incorrect constraints can cause elements to shift position when you resize the artboard.
If the alignment issue persists, try resetting your artboard or groups by selecting everything within it and using the Arrange > Reset Position
option to snap everything back into place.
If none of these methods work, the issue might be a bug within Sketch itself, in which case updating or reinstalling the software can often resolve the problem.
