How to Fix "Figma Components Not Updating Across Files"
Figma's component system allows you to reuse design elements across multiple files, but sometimes components don't update across different files or instances.
This can happen if you haven't pushed the component changes to the library or if there’s an issue with the component version.
The first thing to do is check whether you're working with a shared component library or a local component.
If you’re using a shared library, ensure that the library is published after making changes to the component.
If the library isn’t published, the updates won’t reflect in other files.
You can check this by going to Assets > Team Library
and ensuring that the library containing the component is up to date and published.
If the library is published, ensure that the specific component version is updated in the target file.
If you’re working with a local component, try detaching the component instance and then reapplying it.
To detach an instance, right-click and select “Detach Instance,” and then re-insert the component from the assets panel.
Sometimes, components fail to update due to version mismatches.
Check if you’re using an older version of the component or if any overrides were applied to the component that prevent the updates from syncing.
If overrides exist, you can reset them by selecting the component and choosing “Reset All Overrides” from the context menu.
If you're still facing issues, it may be helpful to clear Figma’s cache and reload the file.
To do this, go to File > Preferences > Clear Cache
.
This can help resolve issues caused by corrupted data.
Lastly, try updating Figma to the latest version, as some bugs related to component syncing across files may have been fixed in recent updates.
